About LBW — The Cricket Almanac

LBW — The Cricket Almanac was created in 2025 by the G4GAME team with a single purpose: to build the clearest, most beginner-friendly cricket reference on the internet. Its name is a double meaning — LBW is one of cricket’s most complex and famous laws (Leg Before Wicket), and it stands here for Learn Beyond Wicket, the idea that cricket’s depth goes far beyond what a newcomer first sees.

The site began as a personal project to solve a specific frustration: existing cricket reference sites were either written for people who already knew cricket deeply, or were too shallow to teach anyone anything useful. Encyclopedia entries assume existing knowledge. Commercial sites bury explanations behind scores and match previews. There was no single, calm, encyclopedic resource that a complete newcomer could open and genuinely learn from.

LBW — The Cricket Almanac is that resource. Every page is written to be understood by someone who has never watched a cricket match, while still being useful to a seasoned fan who wants to look up a term they haven’t thought about in years.

Our mission is to make cricket understandable to anyone in the world — regardless of whether they grew up watching it. Cricket is played in over 100 countries and followed by billions of people, yet it remains one of the hardest major sports to understand for a newcomer. We are changing that, one page at a time.

Every page on this site is written by editors who have watched, played, or studied cricket. We do not auto-generate content. We do not copy from other sites. Each topic page is reviewed for factual accuracy against the current Laws of Cricket (published by the MCC) and against the ICC’s official playing conditions. Pages are marked with their last review date so you can see when they were checked. When rules change — as they do periodically — we update the affected pages within 30 days.

LBW — The Cricket Almanac is edited by the G4GAME content team, based in India. Our editors are cricket enthusiasts who have grown up watching and playing the game across multiple formats. We cover all formats of international cricket and reflect the ICC’s global structure, not just the perspective of any single cricketing nation.

LBW is designed, developed and published by G4GAME, a small independent studio based in India. Editorial decisions, research and writing are done in-house. We are not affiliated with the ICC, the BCCI, the MCC, or any league, board, broadcaster or team.

Rules and laws are checked against the MCC Laws of Cricket and the playing conditions published by the ICC. Records and statistics are cross-referenced against publicly available scorecards and statistical archives at the time of writing. Cricket records change quickly; where a figure may have moved on, we say so.

If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it. Corrections are made to the page itself rather than buried in a changelog.

LBW is free to read. It is funded by display advertising and by sponsorships from brands relevant to cricket audiences. Advertising never influences editorial content — sponsored placements are labelled, and no advertiser gets to review or approve a chapter before it is published.
